What We Stand For - In Practice
Three operational values: fairness, entrepreneurship, and excellence, applied across five countries, real clients, and real accountability.
Values & ESG
What we actually believe. How we actually operate.
Gradion’s values were not written in a workshop. They are the accumulated result of running a multi geography technology company for over two decades, across languages, time zones, regulatory environments, and economic conditions, without losing the ability to deliver or the willingness to stand behind the work.
Three values. All of them operational.
Fairness
Fairness at Gradion means striking a balance across everyone the company serves: colleagues, clients, shareholders, and the world the company operates in.
These interests constantly pull against each other. A client who wants a discount and a rapid timeline affects employees through overtime and shareholders through reduced margin. Navigating that tension honestly, rather than defaulting to whichever party is loudest, is what the value requires in practice.
Fairness also appears structurally. ISO 27001 certified processes. No hidden fees. No scope inflation without explicit client agreement. When something slips, the client hears about it from Gradion first, not after the deadline has passed.
320 engineers across Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, Egypt, and Singapore. Women make up 26% of the workforce. Vietnamese, Thai, Egyptian, and Singaporean engineers operate under the same technical standards, the same direct client accountability, and the same access to senior leadership as staff based in Munich or Hamburg.
That is not an ESG policy. It is how the company is built.
Entrepreneurship
Gradion thinks and acts like an entrepreneur. Unconventional approaches, responsible risk taking, and a drive to turn ideas into outcomes, not simply to execute what is specified.
True entrepreneurship requires the freedom to act. Decision making at Gradion is decentralized. Local managers own hiring, local policies, and team structures. The Global Board serves as a resource and sounding board, not a permission layer.
This allows the company to move at the speed the work requires, with the people closest to the client making the decisions.
The same orientation extends to how Gradion works with clients. For the right business, the right market, the right founding team, and a product the company genuinely believes in, Gradion is open to going further than a services engagement: advisory equity, co investment, or a founding role.
Not as a standard offering. As a consequence of operating like a partner.
Excellence
Excellence means going beyond what is expected. Not perfection, but the deliberate pursuit of an outcome that makes the client think: this is better than expected.
It does not mean the longest hours or the most polished slide deck. It means caring about the client’s actual outcome enough to pursue the better solution rather than the adequate one.
The engineer who flags a problem before it becomes a crisis.
The architect who proposes the cleaner approach even when the original specification would have been acceptable.
The consultant who tells the client what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.
Community investment
In Central Vietnam, Gradion partners with Passerelles Numériques Vietnam (PNV), a non profit founded in 2010 in Da Nang that provides full scholarship IT education to underprivileged youth. The program covers tuition, a monthly living allowance of $45, and dormitory housing.
Through the #GatewayForLife campaign, NFQ and its staff raised $100,000, funding 130 students. The 2024 #PayForward campaign raised an additional $68,950. NFQ matches employee donations through its #nfqmatchinggift program.
PNV alumni spend approximately 31% of their income supporting their families. An estimated 2,000 individuals have been lifted from poverty in Central Vietnam as a result.
The motivation is direct. Gradion depends on a strong engineering ecosystem in Vietnam, and it has an obligation to contribute to the conditions that allow that ecosystem to grow.
These are not charitable programs attached to a commercial operation. They are part of how the company sustains its own ecosystem.
Environment
Gradion operates as a climate neutral company through its Climate Action Partner program.
Cloud infrastructure runs on providers with published sustainability commitments and verifiable renewable energy targets. The remote first delivery model structurally reduces the business travel that most on site consulting models require.
Gradion is working toward formal environmental reporting across all operating locations.
These commitments are in progress, and the company is transparent about where it stands in that process.
