About Gradion
23 years. 4 continents. 320 people who diagnose problems and build what fixes them.
Gradion traces its origin to NFQ, founded in Lithuania over two decades ago. The move into Asia was not a talent arbitrage play. It was a market thesis: that Asia - Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand - was becoming a third axis of global technology alongside the US and Europe, and that a firm positioned inside that axis, not just pointing at it, would compound differently over time. That thesis has proven correct. Gradion is headquartered in Singapore, with engineering hubs in Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Cairo, and Hamburg. In Asia, the company operates under the Gradion name since 2023, building on more than two decades of NFQ Group history.
A consultancy that delivers.
Gradion is a Digital and Deep Tech Consultancy - with an important distinction from most consultancies. A good doctor does not guess at the prescription. They examine, read the data, and then treat. Gradion works the same way: the assessment produces a clear report - what is broken, what needs to change, and in what order. The difference is what happens next. Most consultancies hand that report to the client and leave. Gradion has 320 engineers across four continents who can fix it, at a price that reflects how the company is built, not where it is headquartered.
$10B+ in GMV flows annually through systems Gradion has built or maintained. More than 20 million tasks are automated monthly across production deployments. ISO 27001 certified. 97% client satisfaction across more than 1,000 deployments.
Domain depth built over decades.
Gradion builds capability in specific domains rather than maintaining a generalist bench. In travel, the company has operated at the frontier of the industry for 20 years. In e-commerce, the engineering record spans two decades with core players like Shopware, Spryker, CommerceTools and many others. In manufacturing, the work runs from AGV fleet management and MES integration in plants across Thailand and Germany to industrial cybersecurity aligned with IEC 62443. Gradion founded ACE - Vietnam’s Automation Centre of Excellence - surrounded by hundreds of active factories in Binh Duong. Schaeffler chose Gradion as the SYNAOS implementation partner for the first AGV deployment in Asia-Pacific.
The depth comes from staying in domains long enough to accumulate genuine expertise, not from claiming coverage across every category.
Building billion-dollar companies.
Gradion’s founder Lars Jankowfsky built Swoodoo - Germany’s leading flight metasearch - before KAYAK acquired it in 2010. Lars went on to serve as VP Engineering at KAYAK, responsible for the worldwide engineering team. NFQ (represented by Gradion) then built and ran a high-performance engineering team embedded in KAYAK’s product development for over a decade, working across search, pricing, and platform infrastructure as KAYAK scaled to more than 2 billion consumer queries annually across 60 markets. KAYAK was acquired by Priceline for $1.8 billion in 2013. In 2018, KAYAK acqui-hired approximately 40 engineers from NFQ’s team into a dedicated engineering hub in Lithuania.
HomeToGo was founded in 2014. Gradion was the engineering partner throughout: up to 150 engineers across four offices, 50+ production deployments per day, 99.99% uptime, 100+ partner API integrations, 15 million listings across 25 markets. In 2021, HomeToGo completed a EUR 1 billion IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
These are not isolated wins. They are the result of being able to build engineering capability at scale, sustain quality over time, and move fast enough to matter at the growth stages where it counts.
EUR 1B IPO, 150 engineers
HomeToGo went from founding to a EUR 1 billion IPO with Gradion as engineering partner for seven years. When HomeToGo listed, they acquired the Gradion team: 150 engineers across four offices.
