Client Context

The client is the credential verification platform of a major international organization, a Dubai-based organization operating across GCC, APAC, and DACH markets since 2006. The platform specializes in Primary Source Verification (PSV), the direct confirmation of professional credentials with their original issuing authorities, rather than reliance on copies or self-reported documents. The platform serves healthcare professionals seeking international employment, with particular strength in the GCC regulatory market (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar). The company has verified credentials for 300,000+ healthcare professionals and connects to 160,000+ issuing authorities across 200+ countries. Credentials are stored on blockchain as portable digital proofs that professionals carry throughout their careers, ensuring long-term validity and ease of transfer.

The Challenge

The platform’s web interface had already demonstrated product-market fit at scale. Thousands of healthcare professionals, nurses, doctors, and pharmacists, were using it to verify and share credentials when applying for international positions. The verification logic, blockchain storage, and regulatory integrations were mature. The gap was mobile. Healthcare professionals seeking international work operate under intense time pressure and with limited access to desktop environments. For a professional in the Philippines applying for a position in the GCC region, the credential verification process needed to happen on the device already in their pocket, not on a laptop at a fixed location. Rebuilding the verification experience for mobile was not a straightforward port. The UX requirements were distinct: users facing high-stakes document submissions, often under stress, needed interfaces that were intuitive under pressure regardless of their prior technology exposure. Complexity had to be invisible. Security could not be compromised. And the blockchain-backed verification chain that gave the digital proofs their regulatory credibility had to translate faithfully to the mobile experience. The delivery constraint was equally demanding. The market window required an MVP within six months. The company’s internal team at the time was a team of three. Scaling hiring through normal processes at the speed required was not an option. Gradion, as the delivery partner, needed to effectively become the product team.

The Approach

Gradion partnered with the company to design and build the mobile application from the ground up, taking on full product delivery responsibility across iOS and Android simultaneously. The approach was built on three parallel tracks: User empathy-first design: Every screen was designed around the actual experience of a healthcare professional under pressure, someone who may be submitting credentials at an unfamiliar terminal, in a second language, in the middle of a job application process. UX decisions prioritized task completion over feature completeness. Complex verification steps were broken into clearly framed sequences, and navigation was optimized for first-time users. Accelerated delivery without cutting architectural corners: The six-month timeline required disciplined scope management. Gradion focused the MVP on the core verification, document submission, and digital proof display flows, the experiences that determined whether a professional could actually use the platform in the field. Security and blockchain integration were treated as non-negotiable foundations, not features to defer. Continuous improvement post-launch: After the MVP shipped, the team used user feedback and data analytics to drive iterative improvements. Features were added and refined based on what real users needed in active job-seeking situations, not what had been assumed during initial design. The team grew from 3 to 35 members during the delivery period, an expansion that happened entirely within the constraints of a global pandemic, when hiring and onboarding had become significantly more complex across the industry.

The Results

The outcomes confirmed the market need and the delivery execution: 6 months from concept to MVP launch: Both iOS and Android were delivered simultaneously within the target window. 100,000+ users in year one: Healthcare professionals adopted the mobile app as their primary tool for accessing and sharing credentials. Team scaled from 3 to 35: This represents a more than tenfold expansion completed during a global pandemic without any disruption to delivery. Secure blockchain credential access: Digital proofs are now accessible on mobile, maintaining the high level of verification integrity required for regulatory standing. Foundation for continuous growth: Post-launch analytics and user feedback drove ongoing improvements, supporting the platform’s expansion across GCC, APAC, and DACH markets. For the healthcare professionals using the platform, the impact was concrete: the credential verification barrier that held back nearly 40% of internationally mobile nurses and doctors became something they could navigate from their phone, in minutes.
